I'm Anthony, nice to meet you!

As you've undoubtedly noticed, I'm a Web and Graphic Designer. I love making pretty things, and I love making pretty things that work. I'm a stickler for web standards, and I believe that form and function can be crafted together in a way that doesn't compromise design or semantic integrity. I'd love nothing better than to be locked in a room with my Macbook Pro, Photoshop, and Smultron.

You can read my professional bio below, or skip ahead to the Fun Stuff.

Professional Bio

I started my design career as an intern at Covenant Love Family Church where I learned the mechanics of every form of media under the sun, including Video Production, Graphic Design, Audio Engineering, Lighting and Show Production, and Print and Media Duplication. After a little under two years, I came on full time as the Junior Video Production Artist where I participated in everything from studio shoots to capturing and editing live events.

I began playing around with Photoshop and HTML/CSS at night, and decided I wanted to spend the rest of my life in a text editor writing code, so I enrolled at Sessions College. As the ministry grew, so did our workload. It was decided that I had accrued enough of my new-found design and development skills to assist our webmaster with upkeep of the website. Here I learned the necessity of standards compliant code, and to "test, test, test" before launching anything. I'd like it to be noted that our webmaster, John Shull, edits a JavaScript file faster than anyone else I've ever seen. He's the Chuck Norris of web development.

Once again the ministry started seeing growth and change, and I was made Junior Web and Graphic Designer underneath Lead Designer Bryan Reed. The position covers everything from design for print and web to front-end development. It is here that I really began to mature as a designer, all the theory and practical experience I've had coming into a cohesive union. I don't count myself among the great, but I'm very proud of what I have achieved by my own hard work and toil, and I'm confident in my abilities as both designer and developer.

This is the part where I tell you that you should hire me for any projects you have because of how awesome I am. But I'm not going to say that because that would be haughty (about the awesome part, not the hiring part. If you would like to hire me, kindly send an email to anthony at anthonygarritano dot com. I'll get back to you promptly, and we'll talk about your project!).

The Fun Stuff

I was born and lived in southern New Jersey as a younger child, but was raised in my current residence of Fayetteville, NC. This is my home now and I consider myself a Southerner.

I love to read and I surround myself with good music. I am unashamed to say that I am a Christian, and I really live out what I say I do (though I'm not perfect, and I don't pretend to be). I abhor cliches and try to be as real and honest as possible. I like rooting for the underdog but still find something comfortable and familiar about the corporate atmosphere. I am a Mac user through and through, I despise Windows, though there is room in my heart for Linux. I like chocolate cake with vanilla frosting and I don't like peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches.

Twitter has taught me how to be more succinct, I am learning to Dribbble, and I spend a lot of time in the Forrst.

Oh, and my mother is the most amazing woman in the world. I can only hope I find a wife like her.

This is me looking rather fetching, if I do say so myself.
