CLFC Daniel Fast
I am very proud of this project. Not necessarily because it has a great design or superb functionality, but because it was built in three days. That's right: concept, wireframe, design, code, and installation into a content manager all in three days. Originally, the Daniel Fast site was just going to be a simple event page on the main Covenant Love Family Church website, but at the last minute, it was decided to go full throttle and launch it as its own site. This was a great opportunity for me to test my ability in a place where there was absolutely no room for error. With a couple of small hiccups and only one night of long hours, we had a cross-browser compliant, fully functioning website. The conception, wireframing, and design was shared with fellow designer Bryan Reed, I did the entirety of the front-end coding, and the back-end development was assisted by John Shull.
On March 29, 2010, the congregation of CLFC set forth on a 21 day fast. Unlike a full no-food fast, the Daniel Fast is a partial fast, meaning that there is not total abstinence from food. The Daniel Fast is derived from the book of Daniel, chapter 1, in the Bible. The diet Daniel chose to abide by is that of a modern day vegan. Only fruits and vegetables are eaten, and no processed foods or foods with man-made chemicals are allowed. The purpose of fasting is to bring you into a closer relationship with God, setting into motion a heightened focus on prayer, meditation, study and devotion for a specific purpose.
As with all things, more time allows more creativity, but I'm proud of what was launched in such a short time.
